In Fall 2003, a few of us played in a clan called The Advanced Protectors. For various reasons, that group really never worked out. For the next couple months, we played together just as pubbers until March 2003 when Orion (Patton) and GeneralGump founded Soldiers of Virtue. We started with just a handle full of members including DDLOK, Infinadox (Cptn. Morgan), Inferno, Savoire, Titan, Adm. Nimitz (Apocalypse). We also only had a teamspeak hosted on someone's computer and a rickety MSN group site. We were a clan nonetheless.
Over the next 6 months, we recruited and expanded our clan in size and talent. In the Fall of 2004, we joined our first league which was a small group called BEML. We went a perfect 10-0 during the regular season and won the championship. After BEML, we decided to try out competition in the CAL Winter Tourney. We would lose after a few rounds but it was that tournament that sparked our interest in competition, which lead us to join TWL in Jan 2005.
During our time in TWL, we have competed in 12v12, 8v8 conquest, 8v8 CTF, 5v5 infantry, 2v2 tank, and 2v2 air for BF1942. We have been at the top of all of the ladders many times over the course of a year. We also competed in the various ladders for BF2 competition playing in the 8v8 Leagues, 8v8 conquest ladder, 5v5 infantry, and 12v12 conquest.
BF2 was a great game for SoV. We played 3 seasons of CAL and made it to the playoffs 2 of those 3 seasons. Our best finish was coming up just short of a Finals appearance in Spring of 2007 to Team Xor.
While some of our clan played BF2, Patton led a new group of SoV Members to play Call of Duty 2 competitively at TWL. During their time, they played in the 4v4 Search and Destroy ladders and leagues and the 4v4 CTF leagues. SoV competed in several seasons of competition and were able to make it to the playoffs a few of those seasons. Our Cod2 reign ended in Summer of 2006 when Patton stepped down from leading the squad to spend more time with his family.
Since Spring of 2007, there really hasn't been a game that SoV has united to play seriously mainly due to the lack of any real popular games released in the industry. Our clan was also very affected by the loss of one of our founding members, Savoire, who passed away in June 2007. Alex will be forever missed by our clan for all his great moments and charming wit.
In the past year, SoV played 2 seasons of Call of Duty 4 in CAL, but really just played it for fun with out any real structure or practice to our efforts. Currently, we are awaiting new game titles this Fall in hopes that SoV can once again find a game to call their own.
In the mean time, we are still hanging out online and playing older games together. We are also still recruiting new members who want to participate in the upcoming new games.
