Summer 2006 BF1942 10v10 Tournament Rules
This tournament will consist of a five week minileague followed by a 16 team playoff bracket to determine the winning team. The minileague will begin on Sunday June 25th. Teams will be matched up against each other at random on the selected maps. At the end of the five weeks, the top 16 teams, defined by overall best record will be placed in the playoff bracket. These 16 teams will then play out the playoffs of the tournament in a single elimination format. Each team should have a minimum of five matches during this tournament. The team that makes it through the playoff brackets with out losing will be declared the winner of the tournament.
Overview:
The default time and day for matches will be Sundays at 930 EST. If both teams agree to playing at another date/time, they may do so but all matches need to be finished by the first Thursday after the scheduled match.
All maps for the five week minileague will be posted before the tournament begins.
Scheduled matches will be posted no later than Friday prior to the match. The first week's matches will be at random. For the remaining four weeks, matches will be scheduled to the best of my ability by standings.
Using the Soldiers of Virtue tournament fourms, you may contact the other team regarding server choice, time, and date the match will be played and all other questions. You may also wish to contact the other team's captain by email if you so wish or by others means such as Xfire.
In the event of a server crash during the match, the round that was being played will be replayed in its entirety. In the event of a ping problem with the home teams server choice, the match will be played on the better of the two servers for overall avgerage team ping. If the "Away" team doesnt have a server, they will have to play on the "Home" team server unless they have another server accessable to them.
The default size for matches is 10v10. Team may agree to play more than 10 or less than 10 if both teams agree. If one team has less than 10 players and the other team doesn't agree to play the smaller format, the team with the fewer people will need to play shorthanded.
Match Format:
- Each match will consist of a matchup of two teams on the selected week's map. The map will be played in Conquest mode. Each team will play both sides of the map. The winner of the map will be decided by rounds in a best of three format. The first team to win 2 rounds will be declared the winner of the match. In the event of a tie score of 1-1 at the end of two rounds, the team who won the map by more tickets will have side choice for the third and final round.
- After the first four weeks are over, the top 16 teams will be placed into the playoff brackets based on overall standings in the first four weeks. There will be a one week break between the end of the minileague and the beginning of the playoffs. In the event of a tie between two teams trying to fullfill the 16th spot in the brackets, a tie breaker will be played during this one week off.
- Additionally, if both teams have the same record and have already played each other, the winner of the previous match will have the higher seed and precidence for a playoff spot.
Map Selction:
- Maps for the first portion of this tournament are posted below. All maps are to be played using the most current version of BFPro. The newest version of BFPro may be downloaded from the posted links on the tournament forums or here: BFPro .80. If both teams agree to play the match using the regular BF42 maps, they may do so but BFPro is prefered.
- BFPro was chosen for this tournament because of the balancing that it brings to the game. The game fixes that BFPro has added to the game really outweights the hassle of downloading the mod. BFPro really makes some maps a lot more fair than traditional BF42.
- After the first four weeks of the tournament, the maps for all the playoff brackets will be posted.

Team Management:
Each player wishing to participate in this tournament is eligible for one and
only one team. Team switching week to week or once your team has lost will not
be tolerated or allowed.
Team captains will submit a list of players that they feel will
play on their team before the tournament begins. You may select as many players
as you would like knowing that some players might not show or play just one
match. Team captains must also submit the last 8 digits of their players GUID from BF1942. This will help prevent smurfing in matches.
- "Ringers" will be tolerated as long as the other team agrees to these
players before the match begins. Once the match has begun, all players playing
are considered eligible and the match will be played out till there is a winning team.
- Team captains may submit to the tournament director at any time another
player wishing to join the teams roster.
It is the responsibility of each team captain to check the other teams roster prior to the start of the match to ensure that all players are eligible.
Cheating/Exploiting:
There will be zero tolerance of cheating in any way during this event. A
team and or player that is caught cheating will result in that team being
disqualified from the tournament as long as there can be shown just cause for
this action.
- Any and all cheaters will be reported to TWL in which may cause a suspension
and or ban from competition on their site and you will be reported to
punkbuster
Other:
The server settings for the 10v10 Tournament are the same as the 10v10 settings
used in TWL with the exception that ticket percentage for the map will be 150%. Also, there will be no time limit for the rounds.
Final interpretation and decisions of all rules and actions for this
tournament will be at the discretion of the tournament director.
Finally, enjoy this tournament and have fun. This game has been a delight to
us all over the years. For those of you who enjoyed the Fall 2005 tournament, I hope this one to be even better for you and your clan! GL HF!
